Almost 3 years ago, I was single and "girl" friend of mine decided to take me out for a couple drinks and watch people make fools of themselves singing karaoke. We were watching for a while and then this very attractive young woman walked up for her turn. She performed a very comical version of Shoop by Salt N Pepa. Shortly after her hilarious episode I decided I needed to meet her. We began talking and at the end of the night I was hooked. Here we are now almost 3 years later and she still makes me laugh and love her more every day! Shes my everything! ~ Chris Solum Other entires ... My husband and I have been married 22 years and have two wonderful children together. It's not easy to find time for each other let alone romance. One afternoon last summer both are children were going to be gone, one at camp and one at a sleep-over. Now, after 22 years of marriage I've learned not to beat around the bush with men but, just come out and say it. So, I did. I told my husband that this would be a good night to sit by the fire-pit outside and have a drink and a little romance. I asked him to pick up my favorite drink. Being a guy, he rushed right out to the liquor store while I waited in anticipation for our romantic night alone. After a while, the kids were gone and the house was all ours, the dark was setting and we lit a fire. My husband and I went inside to get our drinks and he had bought Pina Colada drinks. I looked at him in disbelief and said "after 22 years of marriage do you even know me?" He looked confused, "this is your favorite drink" he said. "Not, it not, I'm allergic to coconut and have never eaten coconut, let alone drank the stuff in the entire 22 years we've been married." Needless to say I was mad at him and the romance was over! By the way my favorite drink is Margarita which he got right the next time. ~ Julie Dally Amy and I met at a YMCA junior high school dance in 1983. I was 13 and she was 12. We dated off and on through junior and senior high school. I moved to Oregon my senior year and we broke up. I wrote her a long letter telling her to face it "we just weren't meant to be together". Listen guys, don't ever write a letter like that. "Why", you ask? Because girls will save the letter forever. Through a crazy turn of events, I ended up back in Sioux Falls. We got back together that summer (despite my weak break up letter), dated through college and got married in 1992. We had our first child and Amy ran a home day care until we found out we were having twins and were going to have a daycare of our own. 3 boys under 3. What have we done? Now the boys are 14, 11, and 11, and Amy does so much for them and our family. She goes to school in the classroom 1 day/week and drives/ attends many extracuricular activities. She keeps all of us unorganized boys on task. She works part-time and is a great wife/ mother. With our often hectic life, our time alone together has been minimal at best. I would love to treat her to something extra special this year. She truly deserves it. She is beautiful, sweet, and my only true love. I love you Amy! p.s. I only wrote about funny things. This contest is romantic, much better than I could ever come up with on my own. 3 toddlers in a king size bed was all the romance we had for many years. ~ Brian Wienk My boyfriend & I met 4 years ago at a BBQ through mutual friends. He was chowing down on ribs, had bbq sauce up to his elbows & was being very loud. I didn't pay much attention to him at the time. Just though he was another crazy outgoing guy & that was it. I only stayed at the BBQ for an hour or so because my roomate was returning from a week long vacation & I was very excited to see her & all her pictures from vaction. So when I went to leave this guy was giving my a really hard time that I was leaving so soon & I hadn't eaten any ribs. I told him I don't eat meat on the bone & left! The next few days this guy kept calling & texting me. Finally he asked me out on a date & I was shocked! I didn't even realize all this time he was hitting on me & wanted to go out! I didn't know much about him & was nervous to just go out with him so for the next month I always made excuses to do "group activities". Eveytime he would ask me out I would make some lame excuse that I had already invited all my friends over for dinner or already made plans with my friends to go out & the poor sap would come along-with ALL of our friends! Finally I gave in & we went on our first date ALONE! We had a great time & we have been dating ever since! He still gives me a bad time about all the "group activities" I made him do! ~ Jessica Hanneman |
